Bath born artist Lucy Sparrow works mainly in felt and has subsequently trademarked the word 'feltism'.
The 30 year old's pieces have often been described as childlike because of her use of primary colours, however her exploration into the consumer world and modern political life has also opened her up to controversy. She first broke into the art scene in 2014 with the opening of her Cornershop exhibition in east London; an elaborately stitched supermarket scene. But it was her Warmongery show – focusing on gun control and mental health - at Boxpark in 2015 which earned her massive media attention and a feature on BBC’s The One Show. Sparrow's first solo exhibition, Shoplifting, at London’s Lawrence Alkin gallery, is set to take place later this year before she then heads to America with exhibitions in Miami and New York.
